The HNC in Business aims to enable students to enter a range of administrative, commercial or managerial positions in organisations or develop suitable competencies to enhance an administrative, commercial or managerial career on which they have already embarked.The course consists of 12 credits as follows:
- Business Accounting (2 credits)
- Economic Issues: An Introduction (1 credit)
- Marketing: An Introduction (1 credit)
- Managing People and Organisations (2 credits)
- Using Software Applications Packages (1 credit)
- Information Technology: Applications Software 1 (1 credit)
- Analysing and Presenting Complex Communication (1 credit)
- Business Culture and Strategy (2 credits)
- Business: Graded Unit 1 (1 credit)
The modern business environment places emphasis on small group, multi-skilled working and devolved responsibility of individual Units of operation. Therefore, students must be able to respond to rapidly changing circumstances and to recognise and exploit new opportunities. Thus, the HND in Business aims to foster an innovative and enterprising approach in students. The HND consists of the units already completed in the HNC plus a further 18 credits as follows:
